CHEMICAL PRICE INCREASES
All industrial chemicals have had varying price increases over the last year, and most analysts see the trend of increasing prices through 2012.
Phosphate prices have been driven up by an increasing demand for fertilizer due mostly to population growth, stronger emerging economies, and biofuel demands.
It will also see changes due to the earthquakes in the phosphate mining and producing region of China.
Hydrochloric and sulfuric acids, caustic, liquid chlorine, plastics and metal price increases are mostly due to increasing demand and energy increases. Producers have been slow to increase capacity and may be even slower due to the ongoing Worldwide financial mess.
Crude oil increases have also affected all of these in feedstock, production and transportation increases.
